      Store Manager:

The Store Manager carries the full responsibility for the operations of the store.

Responsibilities:

Supervisor:

The Supervisor position ultimately prepares you for promotion to Store Manager.  This is a keyholding position which includes opening and closing of the store.

MERCHANDISING

Buyer:

To manage assigned departments or divisions to achieve objectives of sales and gross margin.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop seasonal departmental unit financial plans. Develop assortments by classification.

  • Update plans and complete stock liquidations and trip plans monthly.

  • Travel monthly to purchase merchandise, develop key items or vendors and make new contacts in the market.

  • Negotiate with vendors on pricing, content of assortment, post distribution fees, freight charges and markdown allowances.

  • Write purchase orders to include all details of purchase including distribution comments and direct maintenance of purchase orders as needed.

  • Establish price points by shopping competitors to ensure Beall’s has the lowest price on items and/or categories.

  • Monitor sales and execute markdowns monthly while maintaining gross margin plan.

  • Work closely with Planners and Distributors to ensure distributions are executed correctly and assortments are tailored to individual store and market needs.

  • Monitor business to the class/item level for all stores and communicate results to P&D.

  • Plan and execute sales promotions based on chainwide advertising calendar, as well as advantageous buys in the market.

  • Communicate consistently with Distribution Center and Accounts Payable.

  • Monitor distribution center processing and respond to all tips and trouble holds in a timely manner.

  • Monitor and control all issues that affect Accounts Payable and vendor relations.

  • Accurately and consistently communicate with all levels of the organization using phone mail, bulletin, network, store visits and meetings.

  • Conduct store visits to ensure products are displayed properly and maintain communication with store operations.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Merchandise Technician

To perform administrative and clerical duties for one or more Buyers.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform key entry functions, such as item declaration, purchase order entry and maintenance/inquiry, TIPS, price changes and transfers.

  • Perform word processing tasks, such as bulletins, memos, objectives, recaps, plans and trip itineraries.

  • Provide vendors with selling information, order information, check delivery of on-order, follow up sample requests and requests return authorizations generated by TIP or trouble hold.

  • Answer questions from P&D and stores and send regular updates on upcoming ads and general information through bulletins.

  • Complete ad results, prepare and distribute division pages, get ad samples, enter ad requests, complete requests and sku events.

  • Filing, return samples to vendors, send samples to stores, assist in checking quality of new merchandise in Distribution Center and distribute mail, reports and best seller samples from stores.

  • Grade orders, resolve TIPS, evaluate quality and resolve purchase order discrepancies with vendors. Work with the DC to expedite sending tickets to vendors.

  • Conduct purchase order allocations and replenishment maintenance.

  • Develop store and Buyer communications.

  • Conduct Assistant Planner training as needed.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

PLANNING & DISTRIBUTION

Planner:

To manage assigned departments to maximise sales and gross margin.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop plans for all new stores, opening seasonal assortments 

  • Monitor and evaluate sales and stock levels by store

  • Perform statistical and business analysis

  • Recommend sales and inventory plans to Buyers

  • Maintain adequate inventory assortments for the stores

  • Communicate store needs to Distributors and Buyers

  • Communicate with store personnel when needed

  • Review vendor shipments in distribution center

  • Review merchandise assortments in the stores

Distributor:

To perform distributions of merchandise for one or more departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform timely distributions of merchandise to the stores

  • Maintain adequate inventory assortments

  • Communicate store needs to Planners and Buyers

  • Review vendor shipments in distribution center

  • Review merchandise assortments in the stores

  • General office responsibilities
